4th Annual Gala Dinner

October 24, 2007

The Tides Estate, North Haledon, NJ

Some of the finest minds in brain research gathered at the Tides Estate in New Jersey on Oct. 24 to celebrate advances in neuroscience and raise money for the Irene and Eric Simon Brain Research Foundation. The foundation supports the development of some of the brightest young students in the field by providing summer fellowships, so it was appropriate that three were present to share about their exciting summer research experience: Justin Little and mentor Dr. Luke Johnson (NYU), Emiliya Mezhericher and faculty sponsor/mentor Dr. Jorge Ghiso (NYU) and Noam Rudnick with faculty sponsor/mentor Dr. Steven Siegel (U of P). Marsha E. Bates, Ph.D. research professor of psychology at Rutgers U and associate professor of psychiatry at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, was recognized for inspiring interest in neuroscience. Our guest speaker Theresa A. Branchek, PHD, CEO of Lundbeck Research USA was interesting, inspiring and extremely supportive of the Foundation’s work and programs. Lundbeck Research, USA, our corporate sponsor sent 10 people to the dinner as well as sponsored a teacher. Dr. Keneth Bonnet sponsored 2 teachers in addition to his dinner. Dr. Yeckel & Dr. Numan, also recognized as teachers encouraging interest in Neuroscience, were unfortunately unable to attend. We thank Kent Hagedorn for donating his photography services and Tran Whitley his music and everyone who donated or participated.
